Frequently Asked Questions

When can I start Karate classes?
Resister for a 2-Week Trial Session; Winter Registration now open.

What should I wear?
A FREE uniform is given upon registration for 2-Week Trial Session 

Am I too old to start?
We have students in the club of all ages!. Karate offers many challenges which appeal to mature students.  Zumba students can go at your own pace and take water breaks any time needed.

Is my child too young to start karate?
Normally we take junior students starting at age 6, but for the safety of all our students each child needs a degree of coordination (karate will help to improve this over time). The simple test is 'can your child do the hokey-pokey?'. If so, then they should be ok to start karate.

Can I train with my children?
Yes, in fact, we encourage karate as a family activity.  We have may parent/child, even grandparent/grandchild teams. 

Will karate make me physicall fit?
Karate will certainly help you get fit. It will improve your flexibility and will provide you with mini goals for your next level of training. As you get better at karate you will train harder and your fitness will improve too.

Will karate help me defend myself?
Yes. Four Seasons Karate teaches self defense drills; blocking and countering an attack drills, and sparring techniques & strategies aimed at defending yourself.  For Adults only, realistic, practical application self defense martial arts is taught (see International Sogobudo Federation).

Is karate a contact sport?  Will I get hurt?
Practice is done in a controlled situation and only light contact is used. Our intent is for all students to learn, enjoy their training and not get hurt.

How often should I train to become a black belt?
Twice a week is the minimum amount of time needed in order to continuing advancing in rank.
